‘Benjamin, I don’t know how you put up with me. I was horrible.’

‘Benjamin, what did you do with her?’ ‘Well, nothing, that’s the whole point.’

‘He is not gonna take away this. He ruined my life, he’s not going to ruin my holiday.’

‘Please God. Let us pray for the constipation of my husband.’

I am Benjamin Deham and I am a European tour director.

A goofy one, some say. I guess they’re right. And I make no apologies about it either. That’s who I am.

I live in Spain, and not only because of the weather. I love the Spanish attitude towards life: they don’t take anything seriously, but they are true of heart. Seriousness comes from the mind; sincerity comes from the heart. That’s the difference with us folks from northern Europe. I was born in Ghent, in Belgium. When do we northerners let our feelings get the better of our minds? And what about Americans? Voilà.

You may remember me, touring through Europe and perhaps you still remember the stories that I told you. You may not know me at all, but let me assure you: the stories that I could tell you about touring through Europe!

About Americans visiting the Moulin Rouge in Paris, Americans dining in a five-star hotel in Luxemburg, Americans on the tour bus.

Americans … I love them! And sometimes they make me cringe.

My enthralling adventures as a tour directeur will appear in an amazing book that I am currently writing.

The title of the book is: All is Fine, The road of life of a Belgian entertainer

The book is not only about my life as a tour director, taking guests to Europe’s finest cities, but also about my atypical personal life and life philosophy.

I will take you to the medieval town of Ghent in Belgium where I grew up and where my mother ran a tavern, we will board a frigate that I served on as a petty officer after joining the Belgian navy at the age of 16, we will walk through the enchanting fields of two very special farms I ran in France, you will meet Charlotte, a black Vietnamese pig I raised, we will dine in a Belgian waffle house I owned in Buenos Aires, I will tell you about my life with a delightful stray dog in a captivating village in Spain and about my life as a gay man (that’s a surprise for my tour guests, surely … ) in the Andalusian town of Torremolinos.

All is fine will be published in the Spring of 2025 by Elena Publishing in the Netherlands, both in English and in Dutch. The English version will be an e-book only.

In the Spring you will find the Amazon button on this website.
